Charity tournament
We would like to inform you about our extremely successful Charity football tournament which had been held on the 23rd of April, 2005 in Wien/Strebersdorf by the great organization of the GE Money Bank.
Net proceeds of the Charity tournament: € 2.633,00 !!!
The net proceed will be doubled by the GE Money Bank !!!
Subsidy will be added by the GE Money Bank in Dublin !!!
Present state: approx. € 7.000,-- !!!

As the closing date has been extended in favour of "Sri Lanka Hilfe", the donations can be given until the 6th of May, 2005. The fund raising will be officially handed over to the "Sri Lanka Hilfe". We particularly owe Mr. Pieter van Groos (CEO GE Money Bank).
About The Charity Tournament:
It was a beautiful day with beaming sunshine.
Under a lot of cheer of the spectators the Sri Lankan ambassadress in Austria H.E. Mrs. Aruni Yashodha Wijewardane opened the tournament by kicking the football at 9.00 A.M.
All the teams had been played successfully to the victory. The fans stood up and cheered up none stop and loudly for their teams.
Absolutely brilliant football had been played also from the both women's teams. Our team "Sri Lanka Hilfe" (Lower Austria/Vienna) was awarded the 2nd runners up of the event. Well done and thanks for the excellent football!!
The 1st runners up was awarded to the IT team of Wolfgang Fuchs, in the hard penalty shootout against "Sri Lanka Hilfe"
After an exciting final the well played team from GE Money bank Hannover was celebrated as the winner of the tournament.
Under the guidance of the very experienced referees (federal league) from Krems, together with Karl Polisensky ensured for a smooth operational sequence of the plays, a fair tournament without any serious injuries succeeded.
Sri Lankan buffet, grilled sausages and pastry, variations of beverages, Tea/ Coffee and cake were offered.
The musical contribution of the famous Sri Lankan music group "Jayasri" provided a loose tendency (loose mood), entertainment and dance during the tournament.
We would like to thankful warmly to all those helping hands, sponsors and especially the volunteers who made the tournament successful.

We are also happy to announce that our organization is now financially stronger and going to be able to support tsunami victims in Sri Lanka for a better life.

On the 26th of December 2004, massive tsunami waves destroyed the densely populated coastline of Sri Lanka. Although we (our family) were lucky to get away from this catastrophe since we live in Europe, sixteen of our close relatives died of this tragedy. We now know the most of our friends who grew up with us have permanently disappeared from us. Even the survivors are left only with the pain; all of their belongings including the homes have been washed away into the ocean. They are now left with no income, making the situation even worst.
We were able to contact some of the victimized families and share the grievances they have. We quickly realized the importance of helping them. Our family and friends started "Help for Sri Lanka" specifically to support tsunami victims. We found three people in Sri Lanka who would like to volunteer for our help program. They are Malkanthi (An Ayurwedic Doctor), Chanaka and Sanjaya (Reliable family friends). Thereafter, there are a few more people informed us about their willingness to involve in this noble work.
*Madampe is one of the worst affected fishing villages in southern Sri Lanka, flooded with ocean water, on the 26th of Dec. 2004.
We were able to send some money immediately after the incident to buy food, medicine and other essentials for the displaced families. Later, we also sent some medicine and water filtering equipment to distribute among the needy people. Our volunteers were able to have some people cook and prepare the meals for the victims. In the first step of our volunteer service, we gave 50 dollars among the displaced families. In the second step, supplied some essential items such as milk for babies, dry food, and sanitary items to distribute among the needy people.
Right after the tsunami, survivors left for safe places such as Buddhist temples, schools located away from the coast. Therefore, they missed the aids provided by main NGO's. Our volunteers went out seeking such victims and helped them with money and other necessities. Most of the people are now unemployed since all the businesses and factories were also destroyed during the tsunami. We are trying our best to help these people come back to their normal lives. Today, we are proud of being a part of this huge relief effort.
We realize the value of our little support for these people, after reading the letters they sent us. They are hopeful about their lives now, but they still need more help. We are now more encouraged and determined to help more and more displaced families of the tsunami.
